Prologis partners with its customer to decrease their carbon footprint in Hungary
Customer News
Prologis, the global leader in logistics real estate, and a leading logistics services provider have partnered to install a 450 kWp photovoltaic system that will power its operations. The solar installation will supply renewable energy to a 12.000 square-meter warehouse at Prologis Park Budapest-Harbor.
The system is capable of covering more than one third (38%) of Prologis’ customer current energy demand in the logistics hub. According to Prologis experts, based on Hungary’s national energy mix, the installation has potential to reduce the company’s carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 73 tons annually*.
This photovoltaic system significantly reduces the logistics company’s carbon footprint at Prologis’ logistics hub while lowering its energy costs. The company will also benefit from price stability, as it will get solar-generated energy directly from the photovoltaic system at a fixed rate.
“Installing a photovoltaic system that has capability to cover 38% of our customer’s energy needs at Prologis Park Budapest-Harbor is yet another proof of our dedication to sustainability. We are very pleased to have worked together with our long-term customer to advance both Prologis’ and their sustainability goals,” said Lóránd Gárdonyi, Real Estate & Customer Experience Director at Prologis.
Prologis has reached 1 GW in solar energy and storage capacity globally in 2025, marking progress toward one of its key impact and sustainability goals. The new installation in Hungary is part of the company’s global commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2040.
Long-term partnership
The latest solar project represents another milestone in the long-standing partnership between Prologis and the logistics services provider. The company has been a Prologis customer in Hungary since 2015, initially operating in a 20.000-square-meter facility at Prologis Park Budapest M1. As its business expanded in Hungary, it leased an additional 12.000 square meters of space in 2024 at Prologis Park Budapest-Harbor.
Tailor-made solutions
The solar power system was installed on the warehouse rooftop as part of the Prologis Essentials platform, which provides turnkey solutions designed to ensure customers’ facilities are fully equipped for their operations and tailored to their specific needs. Each Essentials project is based on detailed analysis to deliver optimal value for customers. The platform offers a wide range of services, from basic solutions like racking systems and forklift leasing to advanced options such as independent energy systems and EV charging infrastructure.
