Rohlik.cz is a leading European e-grocery retailer, established in the Czech Republic and also active in Hungary, Austria, Germany and Romania. The company’s dynamic growth requires modern, fast and efficient logistics operations.
Challenge
The customer wanted to keep prices down and expand its operations in one of the most attractive logistics locations near the Czech capital. The new facility also needed to have a modern automation solution helping Rohlik.cz fulfil its ambition to reduce the time it takes to deliver purchases to customers' doorsteps. Lower labor requirements also help keep operational costs low.
Solution
Prologis delivered a 14,000-sqm BTS space at Prologis Park Prague-Chrášťany, including an innovative automation system. The AutoStore system, which is unique in the Czech Republic, provides a threefold increase in picking productivity while allowing up to 30 percent higher warehouse space utilization. The system makes efficient use of space by stacking boxes vertically in a grid and storing them in a cubic structure. Boxes are then picked by robots moving along the structure on rails. Rohlík’s warehouse in Chrasťany includes 44,000 trays, 265 AutoStore R5 robots, and 50 ports for picking and receiving goods. The solution is designed to ship 1,000 orders per hour, helping Rohlík meet its target of shipping an additional 14,000 orders per day while expanding its operations to new parts of the Czech Republic.
