Prologis Park Prague-Rudná had been filling up fast since its acquisition in September 2014 and was almost fully occupied when existing customer VAFO PRAHA requested more space at the park in 2017 to meet of the needs of its rapidly expanding business. By adopting a flexible approach, Prologis was able to accommodate the family-owned Czech pet food producer’s expansion needs at the park with a new 23,710 square metre build-to-suit facility.

VAFO moved from its current premises in Building 6 to the newly constructed Building 19 from the second quarter of 2018. The new building was designed to act as a distribution center for VAFO with a monthly turnover of 25,000 pallets of pet food, which is produced at three modern plants in the Czech Republic. The company distributes pet food to more than 65 countries around the world, making the location of the hub crucial to the company’s success. Prologis Park Prague-Rudná is highly prized by logistics operators for its first-rate location in Prague-West, just 20 kilometers from the city center and 12 kilometers from Prague International Airport. Professional on-site property management and public transportation within the park allows for smooth logistics and distribution operations.

To accommodate VAFO’s special requirements, the floors of the new facility were equipped with inductive wire guidance systems, while the rest of the building was constructed to the highest Prologis standards, with sustainable design features including cool roofs and LED energy-efficient lighting. The smart metering system allows for remote monitoring and control of all the building’s utilities.

“Prologis Park Prague-Rudná is popular with existing customers expanding and new customers taking advantage of the park’s superior infrastructure and excellent connectivity. We are delighted to be a partner for a local business like VAFO and to help them meet their business goals and ambitions – this is the true measure of Prologis’ work,” says Martin Baláž, director of leasing and development, Prologis Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Prologis Park Prague-Rudná consists of 19 buildings and 237,000 square meters of state-of-the-art distribution space. The park’s location 20 kilometers from the Prague city center and 12 km from Prague International Airport, directly off Exit 5 on the D5 motorway, makes it an ideal hub for domestic and international services. It also has convenient public transport connections, with three bus stops offering passengers transport in the direction of Prague, Zličín, Rudná and Beroun.
